So as you could probably tell from my recent Sephora Haul, I like to buy a lot of foundations.
Actually, I just like to buy a lot of make up in general. I just go through stages. My Sephora Haul, showed my current weakness for both highlighters and (mainly) foundations, so I thought I’d share with you my five favourites.
Its also probably worth noting, that I’m your typical oily skin kind of gal, but I do have dry patches as well, so bare in mind I set all of these foundations.
5. Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless
I’m currently using the American version of this foundation, you can get it here in the UK but it’s packaged differently. I prefer the packaging of the American version so was happy to stock up whilst in New York.
I love this foundation, it’s medium – build-able coverage, but at an amazingly affordable price point. This lasts a strong 6 hours on me before I even have to think about blotting my oils. In my opinion, it’s comparable to mac studio fix but for a fraction of the price!
I first fell in love with it in 2015 whilst in Florida, and was devastated when I ran out when we got back home. I’m so happy to have it back in my collection.
Maybelline Fit Me! Matte & Poreless retails for £6.99 or $7.99(USD)
4. Make Up Forever Ultra HD Stick
This is a foundation I don’t tend use often, but whenever I do I fall in love with it all over again. The quality of this foundation is so good, and coverage is medium-full. I was so skeptical about purchasing this because of my oily skin, but I’m so happy I did. I just make sure I set it well, and also with this foundation I do tend to bake if I know I’ll be wearing it for the day. I do usually have to blot after about 4-5 hours of wearing this foundation.
I had already tried the liquid version before this but didn’t get on with it as much as this, it cracked and separated because of my oils, I would definitely recommend this for all skin types.
Make Up For Ever Ultra HD Stick retails for £31 or $43 (USD)
3. Giorgio Armani Power Fabric
Another New York purchase. After hearing all the hype over the Luminous Silk foundation, and with being devastated about my oily skin not being all that compatible, this was one of the first things on my ‘to buy’ list.
I tried it out whilst we were there because with it being (what I’d class as) a luxury brand, I knew I’d want to return it if I didn’t get on with it. I got mine in the shade 5, and it’s a pretty good match for me when I’ve got my tan on. (Side note, I always buy high end, luxury foundations to match my tan shade.)
I like the finish of this a lot and it does last all day on me despite my oils. I also find that if I do have to blot my oils, it doesn’t affect the look of the foundation. There does seem to be a lot less hype over this than it’s sister product, Luminous Silk, but I think this is fabulous for anyone who prefers a more satin-matte finish to their base.
Giorgio Armani Power Fabric retails for £42 or $64 (USD)
2. Marc Jacobs Beauty, Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate.
This is my most high coverage foundation and probably my favourite Sephora buy! I was so excited over this foundation, and fell in love with it instantly. It does exactly what it says on the box, this baby is FULL coverage, and I’m talking airbrushed, flawless, Beyonce-like skin.
I use the tiniest dots, one on each cheek, one on my forehead and that covers every blemish or discolouration on my face, with the most full coverage. However the best bit is yet to come..
I can wear this foundation for up to 8 hours before my oils start to break through, and even when I blot it, it still looks freshly applied. I really can’t fault it.
The only downside is that it is slightly on the more higher end/luxury price point, however the fact that you only need to use the tiniest bit each time you apply it means it’s going to last a long time. In my opinion this foundation is so worth every penny.
Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able Full Cover Foundation Concentrate retails for £37 or $55 (USD)
1.Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place
This foundation is my all time holy grail. However, it’s only pipped Marc Jacobs Re(marc)able to the post by a millimeter, only because it’s been my all time favourite and go to for over two years now.
It has never ever failed me. It’s full coverage and long lasting, like the Re(marc)able this lasts all day on my oily skin, and I can sometimes go all day without feeling the need to blot. Again, it does exactly what the name says, this beauty stays in place!
I have absolutely nothing negative to say about it, this baby well and truly has my heart! Well, for now anyway.. Marc may well be coming for you, Estée!
Estée Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place retails for £33.50 or $42 (USD)
I feel like your foundation is the base to your make up, it’s what ties everything together, if you can get a flawless base then the rest of your make up sorts itself out. Maybe that’s why I have invested a lot in my foundations, or maybe I have a problem, who knows.
I also feel that if you’re going to do a full face then full coverage is the way to go, you can probably see that by my favourites. (This is my opinion based on what I like on my own skin.)
Let me know what any of your favourite foundations are down below, or if there’s any you’d recommend for me to try out, I’m always up for a new foundation.
