My Favourite Eight Of New York City

As a month has now passed since we got back home, the New York blues are definitely in full swing.

So I thought I’d share with you some of my most loved moments, from our stay in my new found favourite city.

8. The skyline.

We didn’t get chance to walk over Brooklyn Bridge, however, we did drive over it on the night tour bus. As we looked back we saw the most fabulous view of the night skyline.

7. Broadway.

We were lucky enough to get reasonably priced tickets to see The School Of Rock in the Winter Gardens Broadway theatre. We had a really good view from our orchestra seats, and both the show and experience was absolutely incredible.

My tip for anyone after Broadway tickets, whilst they’re in New York is to look around different places for their tickets. We got our tickets from the ‘TKTS’ booths underneath the famous Times Square steps, they sell discounted tickets on the day of the shows. We walked two minutes up the avenue and were quoted $105 each! At the ‘TKTS’ booth we paid $120 for both tickets, and as you can see below, the view of the stage was fabulous.

I also loved just seeing all the different theatres and how they had been decorated for the shows that they were home to.

6. Ice Skating in front of the Rockefeller.

This was one of my favourite evenings from the week. We went and got our skates on and just laughed the whole time. We were ice skating for about an hour/ an hour and a half and it was just such a lovely experience to be able to do it in such and iconic location. (Side note, I can skate, not well but I can move…Tom cannot.)

5. The 9/11 Memorial and Museum.

When we booked New York, one of the first things I said to Tom was how much I wanted to visit the memorial and museum of the fallen Twin Towers, and as strange as it is to say, I was looking forward to it, because it’s such a pivotal point in history.

Although it was so very harrowing and sad, I am so glad we went. It was such an eye opening experience, in terms of it giving you an insight into just how big of a catastrophic event 9/11 was. I honestly think if you get the chance to go to New York this is a must.

4. Central Park

We went to Central Park 3 times during our week long stay. I was absolutely determined to find the part that’s in all the films with the fountain and archway, and you know what they say, third time lucky!

We spent the whole afternoon just walking round in the sun enjoying the views Central Park had to offer. It really is such a beautiful place.

3. Times Square.

I absolutely loved Times Square. We were staying literally a minute walk away from the beginning of Times Square, in the Hotel Edison. So Times Square was one of our first New York experiences and we were lucky enough to experience it multiple times a day, every day that we were there. I don’t think I would ever have got tired of it.

2. One World Trade Centre Observatory.

We went up 102 floors, in 47 seconds, to the top of the World Trade Centre on the most perfect day to do so. There was not a single cloud in the sky. The view was completely breath taking.

1. Top Of The Rock.

My number one highlight. Again, we picked our timing right as there were absolutely no clouds. It was the most amazing, most breathtaking and most out of this world experience I’ve had to date. I was in absolute awe, 70 floors above the amazing city, I quite literally felt like I was on top of the world.

I think it’s safe to say; I have completely and utterly fallen in love with the city that never sleeps.
